This plugin sounds very interesting and it certainly deserves to be known and tried (like most NDSP plugins), however it is intended for a specific style of music and guitar playing that won’t appeal to all guitarists - like me, for example.
Otherwise, I have several NDSP plugins that I really like but they tend to be generally quite resource-hungry… But they all sound so great.
Hey, this rackspace looks amazing, unfortunately Gigperformer (5.0.9) is freezing when I try to import it from: File => Import Rackspace. Is there something special to do to open it?
Ok, I figured out how to solve this issue. I edited the .rackspace file (with notepad or any text editor), at the line 64:
manufacturer=“Neural DSP” version=“1.0.1” file=“/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Archetype Gojira X.vst3”
I replaced the file with the actual file path of the plugin on my computer, in my case it put this:
“C:/Program Files/VSTPlugIns/Archetype Gojira X.dll”
Interesting. The rackspace was developed on a Mac but it should not have frozen on Windows, it should have tried to find the plugin. We will look into this.
Thank you for the explanation, it is therefore related to version 1.0.1 of the plugin! I was rather suspecting a compatibility issue with Gigperformer, so I tried downgrading Gigperformer, but without success. For now, modifying the line in the file might be a working workaround. Thank you for your answers and for the amazing job!
As opposed to occasional slightly incorrect functionality, every crash we have seen with a plugin over the last couple of years has been a bug in the plugin, generally because the developer made assumptions that are not actually valid.
I’m not able to send a crash report as described, because I don’t get the crash window. GP freezes during the importation but doesn’t crash, and I have to kill the process manually. I will create a dump of the process from the Task Manager and open an issue.
Ok, some news… I reached out the support of NDSP, and they answered me:
“Please keep in mind that, unfortunately, Gig Performer is not part of our officially supported DAWs. So issues regarding compatibility and functionality might arise when using a companion software that is not officially supported.”
I kindly asked them if they could add GP as a supported software (let’s dream), and if they could help me anyway. We’ll see.
I also tried to load the 1.0.1 VST (not VST3), and it seems to work so far!!! The issue may only be for 1.0.1 VST3
