[Rackspace] NDSP: Gojira X (complete)

Hey @schamass, thank you very much for sharing your rackspace. It made me appreciate and play Archetype Cory Wong a whole lot more.

If that’s ok with you, I used your code to build my own NDSP Gojira X Rackspace:

I don’t have any experience coding, so I used your script in order to maintain things such as visually changing amps, cabs and EQ section. Each EQ is directly attached to an amp and settings are persistent.

Cabs show a different color when selected. The cab selector dial only shows when the unlink option is selected:

I also used the hideandshow function on the WOW pedal to hide the fatso mix knob when it is not in use. I did the same thing on the delay when changing SYNC mode from Free to DAW. Unfortunately Gojira’s Tap Tempo didn’t seem to be automatable, so instead I used Gig Performer’s own tap tempo function, which worked just fine, if not better.

Beyond the native buttons and dials, I also added a volume pedal in front of the plugin (displayed first position on the second rack) and a general output volume control.

Pedal input is calibrated to +3.8dB since I’m using a Motu M2 with input gain set to zero. There’s a comment block on the Wiring view with a spreadsheet that shows specific values for each audio interface and plugin used.

I used NDSP Gojira X version 1.0.1 - VST3.

To anyone reading this, please let me know if the rackspace is working as intended.
Hope this helps people as much as your rack helped me, @schamass. Thanks once again.

Brilliant!

I know that work from @schamass is a great inspiration for other users to create sophisticated designs. :100:

I’ll create an entry in the Gig and Rackspace files forum.

I’m a fan of these heavy sounds.

Hey @Ipkz, I modified your rackspace for NDSP Petrucci X

Don’t really feel like it’s my creation, so I’ll share it here.

I haven’t completed the cab section there - left out the room mic controls, as I have no use for them and just got exhausted doing all this.

Great work, you even added the 4th amp!
Please, feel free to share it however you like.

When it comes to creating rackspaces, handling multiple stacked buttons is the most challenging part for me. Selecting and repositioning them, ensuring each widget is precisely aligned and sized… I hope future versions of Gig Performer will simplify this process. A Photoshop-style layer navigator that allows for direct object selection would greatly enhance Rackspace design.

Too bad that my trial of Petrucci X is ending. I bought Tonex and Genome during the Black Friday sales. I’ve been contemplating purchasing the Boogie suite and the Rabea for synth sounds, but it looks like they (or rather, my wallet) will have to wait until next year.

Cheers

Indeed this is a pain in the neck. Need to do a lot of moving stuff around for the simplest of changes.

It would also be great to have the ability to replace widgets.

If it’s the same type of widget you can drag and drop a new one on top of the old one in order to replace it.

Thanks a lot for the tip, I’ll try that!

Just dove into this and it’s amazing! Nice work.

Ok, WOW!! This is truly incredible to me, and exactly what I’m looking for. Hats off to both of you Gentlemen. Both you and Schamass for creating this! I would love to get a link to the Cory Wong Rackspace, if possible? It’s a plugin I really love for clean tones.
Now, about this Gojira, is it possible to integrate the Preset selector from the plugin, into this Rackspace? So I can switch presets, either in a second Rackspace or through a GP command? Preferrably automated by a Marker in the Streaming Audio. Other questions that arise are, can I change the name in top left rack, because I’m using an older version than X. And lastly those 4 circles I outlined in my screenshot, do they have a utility, or just a programming error?

Hi,
i’m glad you liked those rackspaces!
Here is the link to my Cory Wong rackspace:

You also could have used the forum search (like i had to)… a search for “cory” brought up the desired threads instantly.
For more information on that rackspace you should also visit the contained link to the corresponding discussion thread!
There is a subforum for “Gig and Rackspace Files” which holds tons of ready made rackspaces and gig files for all kinds of occasions… crawl through it, and you most probably will find some more stuff you like: Gig and Rackspace Files - Gig Performer Community

Unfortunately no. The internal preset system of plugins is mostly not accessible from the outside.
But, like with all of this kind of rackspaces (every parameter of the plugin is mirrored in a widget on the panel), you can create a new rackspace variation, then open the plugin and select your desired plugin-preset (this will then set all the widgets accordingly) and thus you can use this rackspace variation like it was the underlying preset.
This works that easily with variations, since variations only store the state of every widget on a rackspace panel, and because every single plugin parameter has its own widget, a variation can recall a whole plugin’s preset. This only works because of the widgets! If there would be missin a widget/parameter pair, this couldn’t be recalled by a variation!
You can of course use a Action marker in the Streaming Audio File Player (SAFP) to automatcally switch to a rackspace/variation.

But you simply could use the basic “Rackspace” mechanics to store the settings of a preset, the rackspace itself stores the state of every plugin that’s used in it - no matter of widgets being present or not. Just make a rackspace, use any plugins at will in the wiring view and this rackspace (not the variation!) will remeber every setting on activation.
But you will have to create a separate rackspace for each “preset” you want to use, which is not a big deal… don’t be afraid in advance of possible RAM-usage or CPU-stall.
First try, then ask or complain! :beers:

Sure. It’s just a text label. Just activate Edit mode and change it to “Herbert” or whatever you like.

Maybe @Ipkz can tell something about those circles…

Thank you for providing many of the requested answers, Erik. Much appreciated.

@RobJames Those circles are simply visual indicators representing the cabinets. They help fill the space and their colors denote which of the three cabinets is currently active when unlinking amps and cabs.

I opted not to use the Gojira Preset function due to a slight delay when changing presets through the plugin, which results in noticeable audio cuts. In my experience, saving parameters within Gig Performer Rackspace variations offers a faster and smoother transition.

Interesting

In not sure how you used the “Gojira preset function”, but if you just have one preset per rackspace switching is instant since the rackspaces are already loaded.

When you switch variations, on the other hand, it does take time to update various plugin settings.

I actually plan to redo all my gigs and get rid of variations altogether because of this, there are no real benefits to using them at all.

Speaking of which

Am I right that there’s no version of this rack that supports the X version of the plugin?

I was planning to update my copy but asking here in case one already exists

I’m referring to the plugin internal preset selection (midi mapable assignments), not using different rack spaces.
