Hi everybody ! So I am using the midi in Blocks to setup split zones for, let’s say, piano and Synthbass. Works ! Now, when I want to use the piano again without the bass and on all 88 keys, do I have to use another rackspace, meaning I have to load all the piano samples twice into the memory of my Mac? ( I use my Kurzweil PC3K8 to send PC data to switch between the rackspaces) I could manage the split zones via my Keyboard but want to be able to use other keys when performing abroad…
The split points in MIDI In blocks can be controlled by widgets.
So you can set different split points in variations.
You can use Variations within the Racskapce, this allows you to only load the VST once per rackspace.
Set up Widgets for the key range, one for min note and one for max note, ascend to the Midi in block you are using. Then in each variation you can have different key ranges based on the widgets.
As a totally separate issue, if you plan to use different keyboards at different times, be sure to check out the use of the Rig Manager and configure your gigfiles accordingly. It will save you much time/trouble when switching controllers.
Oh ? Okay , so it’s that simple , again
thank you !!! Great solution !Love GP!
Thanks, I am trying to do just that at the moment . I learn as I go ![]()
Generally, anything with a widget associated to it can have that parameter changed in each variation. You can even hide those widgets from view after setting them up with the plugin.
For spilts I find it just as easy to go to each variation and set the range in the midi block rather than move the widget, but that’s just me.
Have a look at this gig file, maybe it gives you an idea of how things work:
