macOS Sonoma upgrade

Put a bit of sticky tape over it!

Thought I’d update the group, i’ve had little problems with the new os other than having to power a thunderbold 4 hub, however, I did move problematic plugins into bluecat patchworx in the previous os and AU vst’s to get round problems in V4, so it may well be that the bluecat is hiding any issues from gig performer. happy so far, I tend to wrap modules and synth in bluecat patchworx so I end up with “channel strips” to do specific jobs.

Unfortunately I have to go back to the problem I discussed with pianopaul. After I turned predictive load off again, the problem reoccurred. Wild jumps in CPU load. I then tested each Rackspace individually and the problem was isolated to Kontakt 7, which I was able to upgrade a few days beforehand via Native Access. The error seems to be known to Native Instruments, see here

or also in this German forum

Update: Native Instruments - Kontakt 7.7, among other things:

FIXED Intermittent CPU spikes on macOS (introduced in Kontakt 7.6.1)

Now it works for me!

But they introduced a new bug.

Even in the standalone version.

Sometimes when you load a Multi via the recent menu => crash

I will try…

Are you on Sonoma?

Yes, I am

Okay, me too, then we can compare.

I have a similar problem with it on 14, when i first start up its a bit choppy and settle down after a few minutes, so suspect upgrading will not help.

Just seen the kontakt post, I’ll upgrade to see if it helps settle things down.

I was in contact with NI support and I provided them a very easy way to reproduce the crash.
They answered that development is aware of that and they hope to fix the bug (yes they say this is a bug) in the next release.

Sonoma compatibility with Roland devices: https://www.roland.com/global/support/support_news/2309271510i/

Seems pretty much to be muddy waters to me.
One Fantom owner complained that it was glitching after the upgrade.

Just upgraded my ‘office’ intel iMac to Sonoma 14.1.1

Everything fine so far. Besides the typical license re-activation after OS updates for GP nothing special to report so far.

Still waiting for the time between X-Mas and New Year to let my M1pro MBP follow this procedure :crossed_fingers:

I’m hearing issues with the general MIDI handling, my Focusrite 18i8 midi ports have stopped working, maybe it’s just the usb to 5pin interfaces, I have a cheap £7 USB-C to midi interface that works fine but this does not handle sysex dumps. Before upgrading best to ask someone who has USB to 5 pin if theirs is working, from comments it seems to be 14.x issues not manufacturers, I’m on 14.1.
Luckily I only used it to program my fcb1010 so not a deal breaker for me.

The same with Plugin Alliance - Brainworx SSL 9000 J. It seems that it was a bug in version 1.4.0 but it has been fixed in version 1.4.1 as far as I could see in the changelog. But I have not yet had the chance to check it personally.

Just got an E-Mail: Plugin Alliance declares all plugins to be Sonoma/Windows 11 compatible now!

BTW: also the Arturia Software Center popped up with 33 Updates: “Support of Mac OS Sonoma” :sunglasses:

… alongside withe the Arturia Collection X :innocent:

Huh? I just opened mine, I don’t see an X collection

@dhj But you will see an unregistered Mini V4, CP70 V and a Wurli V3
Then you go straight to https://www.arturia.com/products/software-instruments/v-collection/overview and
 :hugs: :boom:

It seems that all the Plugin Developers started to clean up their desks before Christmas
