Yeah, they want $199 to get those — certainly not worth it for me.
Well, I also will stay with the current V9 for the moment. Was just checking Sonoma-readiness when this popped up…
Years ago I got burned being an early adopter on an OS for a completely different use case besides music. Ever since then, I run the N-1 version of MacOS. I’ll entertain Sonoma once the next OS after it comes out. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Another one here. I purchased a new MacBook this week with Sonoma pre-installed, didn’t even stop to think about downgrading to Ventura to be safe. But I do have my old machine still functional, so I can revert to that if bigger problems occur (next live show with GP on 3rd of January, so plenty of time to test things). Currently everything runs very, very smoothly for hours with no problems, but then very suddenly when changing a song part/variation/song/rackspace (seems pretty random, any change can trigger this), a terrible glitch-noise starts coming from the Fantom which cannot be stopped before changing variation/song, after which everything goes silent and will only start working after restarting GP (so no crash, audio engine just seems to go silent). Currently it’s difficult to say where the problem is, but this has so far only happened while using Fantom-07 as my interface and never with Audient id14 mkII, so might be the Fantom this time.
I just noticed that my Fantom firmware was old (JUN 2023, the most recent being OCT 2023) so I just ran the update, maybe it helps. If this glitch occurs again, I can post more detailed system info and I’ll switch permanently to the Audient until Roland publishes some updates.
up!
Anything new regarding Sonoma compatibility?
I’m running GP under Sonoma 14.2.1 on my office intel iMac - everything fine/stable so far
I prepared my gigging MBP with a M1pro for the macOS upgrade, i.e. all plugins are up to date.
Keep fingers crossed for the weekend, when I pan to upgrade from Ventura to Sonoma

My MacBookPro M1 is running Sonoma 14.2.1 and after some problems with Native Instruments Kontakt 7, it now works perfectly.
Why ?
Just played my first “Sonoma-show” on Wednesday, relatively complex gig file with 30 different plugins in use from various different companies (Arturia, Spectrasonics, GForce, TAL, Fabfilter, Softube, u-he etc.). Zero problems, everything working smoothly with low-ish buffer size of 256 samples. I was using the Audient id14 interface since I didn’t have the guts to use Fantom as the interface just yet, those glitch sounds would have broken some eardrums… I’ll keep testing it at home now that I have the latest firmware running, hopefully it’s now glitch-free.
My gigging MBP is not exclusively for making music. I had no issues on my intel iMac with GP + plugins so far. We have already 14.2.1, I have no upcoming gig in the next 4 weeks, I‘ve updated everything else on the MBP, so it’s a good perspective just to do it and wait for macOS 15 towards the end of the year
My main dev machine is only on 12 and my gigging machines are on 10.14
Much as I’m an early adopter, I just cannot see the benefit of the newer OSs. They seem to be just GUI changes designed to force everyone to learn yet another way of accomplishing what they were previously doing just fine!
Sonoma 14.2.1 on M1pro - no issues so far
So 14.4 is out and a few days later 14.4.1 >> still reports of usb hub problems, not good for an update, which is bad as there are lots of security fixes, wish they would seperate “feature” updates from security like windows have for so long,we would like to be secure without the new emoji’s
still waiting for ipad portrait display expansion, all the updates seem to be related to screen casting and online sharing like zoom, so not touching it until the dust settles
