With the beta I had issues in using and USB2 Interface on my Mac book Pro 2018
This was a well known bug in Monterey, which was fixed in later versions of Monterey.
With Ventura 13.5.2 this audio glitch bug with the T2 chip and USB2 Interface again appears.
With Sonoma Beta 14.0 this issue still was present.

Anybody facing the same issue?

I contacted Apple Support and as always they are not aware of any problems…

Test carefully – I have been bitten in the past by OS “upgrades” that have broken things.

I still remember the 10.9 update that broke aggregate device support.

My own feeling is that if you really depend on your laptop for live performance, don’t update until there’s clear evidence that it’s safe.

For my own shows, I’m still running 10.14 on my live performance laptop and have no intention of updating any time soon.

You are absolutely right with OS upgrades.
I will revert my machine to the last known stable release, but with apple that is not so easy.

I a forum I found an entry where a user had the same issue and with Ventura 13.6 it seems to be fixed (again).

If you run time machine it is really easy to revert. That has saved me on more than one occasion. Highly recommended

That is not that easy to downgrade.
I have a backup of my Ventura Installation.
Now on the machine the Sonoma Beta.
When you boot in recovery mode and want to restore completely from disk the system says
that this is not possible.
You have to create a bootable media with the Ventura Installer on it.
Boot from the medium and install from it.
But you have to completely erase the internal disk.
Then install and then copy the data from the backup disk with the migration assistant.

Or is there a better way?

I don’t have separate backups, I just leave Time Machine running all the time (with an inexpensive but large USB connected portable drive)

If you do that then if you need to revert to a previous version of the OS, you go into recover mode and “Restore from Time Machine”

So they changed the underlying file system itself and broke the ability for Time Machine to recover?
Apple is really not what it used to be.

That said, I’m surprised you can’t just erase the partition completely and THEN restore from a Time Machine backup

I can erase and the restore, but I was not brave enough

For what it’s worth my Logic Pro tested all my plug ins without issue. So far so good.

After running a full back up and deactivating my GP license, I successfully updated my 2021 M1 MacBook Pro to Sonoma this morning. Existing gig files load and work as expected. All plugins are shown as enabled in Plugin Manager. :+1: :+1:

That doesn’t really mean anything unless you removed all your plugins from the list and rescanned everything.

Ran a full rescan. Everything is green. Most importantly, tested the gig files I’m working in and they all work as expected. :+1: :+1:

I’m using a Focusrite Clarett+ 4Pre. I haven’t encountered any audio glitches or unexpected performance issues so far. :crossed_fingers:

focusrite 16i8 has no problems so far, seems very stable, guess it’s early days but been using it couple of days through all setlist guitar/keyboards/vocals.
not had any freezes or hangs on 4.7 which I have had on 13
