I was wondering ,if it’s possible to change plugin presets through plugin GP user presets. Would that be possible? I know Logic is capable of doing so.
You can save the state of a plugin as a GP user preset.
You can load that state manually or via scripting.
I’m aware that I can do it manualy. I’d like to do it from a widget but I do not know how to script. I prefer not to use variations for that.
How would you like to load a GP Preset?
Moving a Knob or pressing dedicated Button?
I’d like to use a knob
Take a look at this
GP-Preset Roll-Selector - new version with proper variation use!
or this
Use GP Presets with Widgets
I’ll hace a look. Thanks. The Preset Roll Selector uses variations and that’s something I do not want. Thanks again.
what is the reason why you do not want?
I make live improv looping and the amount of variations I’d need just for one plugin would be too much. I only need oreset changes via GP oresets for instrument vst’s/au’s. I use PC messages for the fx plugins ,as they work great in live setup.
OK, when you use a KNOB to select preset while you are improvising, how to you make sure you select the correct preset?
I would use a bunch of buttons in a radio group and with scripting select the correct GP preset.
That’s a good point. Haven’t thought about it. There’s a restricted space on the ipad ,though. Therefore I cannot have too many buttons.(using TouchOSC as a midi controller)
GP5 has the ability to respond to an incoming OSC message to load a user GP Preset
I think it’s something like this
/foo/LoadGPPreset “preset name”
/OSCHandle/LoadGPPreset “PresetName”
Loads the GP preset specified by the preset name
I’m such a noob that I don’t even know what that means. Sorry
What App are you using on the iPad?
TouchOsc but in a midi mode
OK, with OSC you would have a universe of possibilities.
Create a widget on TouchOSC, define the message to be sent out, setup your IP-Adresses and Port.
There are many tutorial on the Web which show how to deal with that.
The advantage is that you do not need any changes in your gig file.
Would I still need to script? I chose midi route as it’s simple. OSC goes above my head.
With OSC you need no script to select a GP preset.
Did you take a look at the documentation I posted above?
Yes I did,but I’m too dumb to get it. I’ve read TOSC manual before but my mind isn’t wired this way. Thank you for your time and help ,though.
