Upgraded to GP 5, now Second Instance not receiving MIDI

Hello GP friends,
I finally got around to upgrading from GP 4 to GP 5, and when I launched GP 5 the instances I created were gone.

I’m trying to re-create my instances (I have the underlying gig files that go into the instance), but it seems the second instance is not receiving any MIDI.

I’m using Bome MIDI Translator Pro, and I have a Bome channel 1 for the first/primary instance of GP, and Bome channel 2 for the second. This worked great for the last version of GP 4.

However, after upgrading the second instance cannot find any MIDI messages, as seen in the Global MIDI Monitor.

Did something change for creating instances in GP 5? Or what am I missing?

Have you reset your Audio I/O settings under Options for your second instance?

Hi jpt, I’m only using the second instance to control the Behringer XAir -18 (as discussed in this thread here: Control X-Air 18.

So no audio is going through the second instance, just MIDI messages to control Volume, Mute, etc. on the X-Air 18.

If you are on Windows and you don’t have a multi-client audio/MIDI interface, then you can’t have more than one application with access to the same MIDI port. Nothing changed in GP5 that would affect this.

Thanks, dhj. I am on Windows and because of that limitation, I’m using the Bome MIDI Translator Pro, which worked brilliantly in GP4, so I’m glad you clarified that nothing changed in that regard in GP5.
