Well, it was working, but when I opened the permissions box for microphone, I found that most of my plugins and host applications had the boxes unchecked. Total mix worked but without permission. (naughty RME 
) and any other software I’ve purchased since last updating the microphone permissions were also unchecked. It’s anybody’s guess why some apps work and others don’t. Apple’s mysterious ways…
