Startup Crashes on Mac Sonoma

Hello folks, I have been trying to start up GP4, but I am running into startup crashes. Does not seem to be related to other reports, from what I can tell.

Thanks for any help, folks.

Gig Performer crash on startup, Report copied by Jaanus.pdf (191.7 KB)

Please download and try the recent version of Gig Performer

When you start Gig Performer, does it automatically load the last used gig file?

This thread crashed: Thread 12 Crashed:: com.apple.audio.IOThread.client

We already seen this thread crashing on Sonoma.

Below suggests that it is a macOS library: libdispatch.dylib

I will try that now. To clarify, The crashes started on 4.1.x, and then on 4.7.x in the same way.

Does not appear to. I am not a regular user. This would be my first time trying gp4 in earnest

Downloaded 4.8.2, makes same crash/error

Curiousā€¦what version of Sonoma are you on?

When did this start happening? Was it working properly until Sonoma?

Also, any possibility you need an updated driver for your audio interface?

Sonoma 14.4.1

seems to crash the same way if I use the UAD Apollo twin thunderbolt or the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

This was my first time using GP in quite a while; I am a lapsed guitarist

  1. they may both need driver updates
  2. are you getting the crash with an empty gigfile?
  3. what happens if you remove your GP settings file and start from scratch?

Looking through the online manual and being unable to find the ā€œGP settingsā€ file. Turning on GP 3.8.x seems to work/no crash, but I need to get my old license key again to get it to run outright. #1 and #2 seem to not fix anything yet.

It should be in this folder

/Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Application Support/GigPerformer/Gig Performer.settings

By going slowly through Terminal, I was able to find ā€œGig Performer.settingsā€ and delete the file. Now GP 4 boots up as expected.
