Pianoteq 9 has just been released.
Thanks for the heads-up!
I got lucky. I’d been upgrading to each higher edition over the years, upgrading to the full bundle last November, less than one year ago. So, I get the v9 upgrade for free! Woo hoo. Installing now.
Here is what’s new:
Or just the “naked” change log:
Looks good… i guess i will get my update this evening!
With each version Pianoteq gets really better.
I am using it since V3
Holy smokes…native Windows ARM support! I’ll install it later today on my MS Surface Pro 11 Snapdragon Elite X. I have the native ARM versions of Bitwig Studio and Studio One Pro installed, plus the new ARM driver from Focusrite. Maybe someday, we’ll get a native Windows ARM version of GP!
Also saw that the KlVir.ptq add-on has been updated for the CP-80. Always good to read the release notes!
Upgraded for $29,
Wow!! In my initial testing , this seems to be a big move forward– towards a more woody-natural
piano sound! The modeling tell-tale sounds are greatly reduced or gone!!! Very Happy-Excellent!!
Can’t wait to get home and replace v8 in all my rackspaces instead of learning songs for the weekend’s gig ![]()
As i only got Standard earlier this year it’s a free upgrade of me. Nice. Shame Lounge Lizard wasn’t but that’s for another time.
Can i ask if v9 will automatically see my user presets from v8? Obviously I’ll need to load them but was wondering if the two versions share a common presets folder.
@ Dave bass 5
Yes! V9 saw my saved presets from V8.
Be careful not to remove the old version from your system. Although their internal presets may be compatible, the “state” will probably not be so loading a gigfile where the older plugin has been replaced by the newer one will be problematic.
That’s the same reason why I still have Kontakt 5, Kontakt 6 and Kontakt 7 installed, along with the latest Kontakt 8.
The user Presets folder is version agnostic on Windows. For me:
C:\Users\johna\AppData\Roaming\Modartt\Pianoteq\Presets
The Pianoteq executables in C:\Program Files\ are in version-specific folders.
Thanks for the replies and warnings.
Yes, v9 picked up all the user presets automatically, and no, I’ll not remove v8 for now. Im sure I’ll have a few Rackspaces that ive not got loaded that will still be using it.
Looks like a fair upgrade to me.
Interesting, the notes says VST2 support is eliminated.
So, only VST3 option?
Jeff
Correct. There’s also the ProTools plugin, but I never install those if I am offered the choice. Otherwise, I go into the Avid folder and delete them.
On my main system, I only saw that standard install dialog, but on my Snapdragon Surface Pro, I was offered both the Intel and ARM versions ov v9. Nice!
Keyscape has been my main source for grands, uprights and electric piano’s.
I prefer the concept of physical modelling, but Keyscape did just sound better when I did some testing 2 years ago.
This thread made me buy Pianoteq 9 (and Valhalla Room) and I must say I’m very excited! Really LOVE the Petrof, YC5 and Electric piano’s…
Thank you ![]()
I love every grand piano or vertical in Pianoteq collection. And I made some strange versions with aging and detuning for my rackspaces.
But for electric pianos until V8 I preferred Keyscape and Lounge Lizard. Let’s see if V9 is better for these needs.
I never tried the electric piano in Pianoteq 8 after finding that my Lounge Lizard did a much better job than Pianoteq 6 and 7
But I will certainly give Pianoteq 9 a test to see how it is, if only so that I can reduce the amount of physical RAM needed.
Make sure that you download and install the two free instrument packs: bells.ptq and KlVir.ptq. The KlVir file has been updated for v9 with a much enhanced CP-80. They are on the Downloads tab in your User Area.
Does Lounge LIzard use much ram? I had thought is was fully physically modeled.
Lounge lizard does not have acoustic pianos.
dhj is not talking about electric piano.
