I’m trying to use the free version. When I open it in stand alone mode it works fine. When I add an instance in GP I get an error message and it doesn’t open. It says “assets not found/reinstall OB-XD or give access to documents folder”. The preset folder in in the docs folder where it’s meant to be. I’m on a windows machine. I can’t find a solution on their site, maybe someone here has an idea?
FreeOB-XD 3.4 VST2 works properly (Win 11 23H2).
Could it have something to do with Administrative Privileges to access the folder?
Maybe this could help? Error message on program end when Gig Performer was not started with administrative rights
Same setup here.
I just tried to run as admin. with no luck.
Do you have these in “C:\Users\yourname\Documents\discoDSP\OB-Xd” and do they contain files?
I’ve got 2 folders in “documents”. OB-Xd and OB-Xd 3. The OB-Xd only has a “presets” folder in it which seems to be empty. The OB-Xd 3 has what yours has minus the “Default.fxp” file. There is one of those in the “Presets” folder though.
UPDATE-got it going-I copied everything from the OB-Xd 3 folder into the other one, now it works. Thanks!
Never heard about it, do you have a link?
I uninstalled OB-Xd after I bought GForce’s OB-X. Its patches are saved as .XML files. Do you, or anyone else, know if there’s a way to import the patches from the .FXB banks used by discoDSP’s OB-Xd?
I hadn’t considered that when I uninstalled OB-Xd. I would be a PITA to reinstall it and try to recreate the presets I liked one at a time. I’d rather just import them as User patches in OB-X.
I’ll ask GForce as well and report back what I hear.
EDIT: GForce got back to me straightaway! And, nope, it’s not possible. That was the answer I was expecting, but it was worth asking anyway. Great customer service from GForce!
Uninstalling deletes all files and folders except custom presets, which remain accessible in your drive.
And by reinstalling OB-XD and using Auto Sampler Generator and Auto Sampler Recorder you can easily recreate your favorite sounds and play them in Decent Sampler. It is a lesser evil.
Good idea. Thanks!
