Newbie to GP

Just bought GP 5 Pro and, although not yet having used it live, I am having a blast exploring the Rackspaces!. So I started a test rig for my NS Stick…

What I would like to see is a grid type over-lay during the Rack edit mode so you can align all your widgets just so. Not necessarily a grid that “locks” widgets to a predetermined space (like icons on a desktop), but something to visually help you with knobs, faders, switches, whatever. Perfect for the perfectionist!

When you select multiple widgets in edit mode you get tools to align the widgets.

Regularly, the question for more tools to align and design rackspaces comes up. But when it comes to designing rackspaces and the usage thereafter, it’s not that important to me: If I’m playing guitar or bass I don’t have the time (or possibility) to fiddle around with the mouse or touchpad to click a button or move a slider.

The only thing I use the GP rackspace gui for, is visual feedback of what my current settings are: I have 6 rackspaces which only say ‘Clean 1’, ‘Clean 2’, ‘Dist + mega delay’, ‘Crunch’, ‘Dist’ or ‘Dist Solo’ (depending on the rackspace). The rackspaces are selected by a foot-controller with, indeed, 6 switches.

If I would need to control an extra parameter, I would probably use a little MIDI controller to do that.

Of course that’s just my opinion and the way I work. There are people on this forum that, just like you, have created very impressive rackspaces!

Btw, which Gallien Krueger plugin do you use? (I have a physical GK, mb200 or something like that, can’t remember, but I never use it anymore).

Anyway, welcome, keep up the good work and have a lot of fun with GP :clinking_beer_mugs:,

Plugin Alliance Brainworx. I have a physical GK 200RCB that has an iffy input. The boards are monolithic so I would have to desolder the jack off the board if I want to replace it. I haven’t used it in years.

Well look at that! Very cool..thank you!

I have and use that plugin also. They have also modeled clipping of the amplifiers, which give tremendous spikes when you overload it too much. Mind your ears and/or speakers.
