Nektar Pacer Discussion

Hi. Firstly, thanks once again for you sharing your knowledge….wish I’d seen your post a few days ago! Secondly, thanks for such a speedy reply.
This morning I thought I’d have another go at figuring this out (I don’t give in easily on such things!) and I was successful.
I was using just 1 rack for both egtr and acu gtr. I fixed it by duplicating the rack and sending CC messages to change the racks when changing presets on the Pacer. Now I’ve got everything working just how I want it, thanks to your post:) I even hacked my cheap expression pedal….put a switch in it that switches my wah on and off just like a normal wah pedal…brilliant!
I’ll buy you a pint if I ever run into you 😁.
Cheers.

Does the Pacer work with a regular Wah pedal ? I have a Dunlop Hendrix version and I would like to connect it to the EXP 1 jack but it isn’t seen by Amplitube 5 through an AXE IO when I try to get it to learn the pedal.

Hi @Sharmon. No, an ‘expression’ pedal is needed for this - a standard wah pedal is processing the audio signal and can’t do double duties as an expression pedal, unless you do some DIY and permanently convert it (a number of web hits on this topic).

It’s a 1972 vintage pedal , I will buy the Nextar and just leave it on my board

Hello, David, welcome here :slightly_smiling_face:

As said @rank13, although it is possible to use a volume pedal, it is not recommended.

Hello all, im hoping someone can help me with the Pacer, as im new to this. I’ve read through the thread and using Studiocode im trying to select a rackspace on GP5 (trial version). I assumed that i’d be able to do this by setting preset select to Midi Channel 1 & 2 to match what i’ve assigned in GP5 to Variation properties. I had some luck when i firswt attempted it a i could switch to channel 2 but not back to 1, i then played around witth the studiocode settings and cant get it to work again and now the three dots under pg bank wont stop flashing and i can seem to send a command.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You probably need to program with StudioCode (I assume you mean the Pacer Editor) and then close your browser so that it releases the Pacer MIDI port and that Gig Performer that then use it. On Windows, more than one device or application cannot simultaneously open a given MIDI port.

Steve

@SteveC-Bome that’s great, thanks. I can now align the bottom foot switches to global midi commands such as up/down racks.

Do you know an easy way to assign the bottom foot switches to each rack, so I can access them direct without having to scroll through the racks?

Cheers
Paul

I believe if you program your bottom foot switches for Program Changes, then You can access rackspaces directly. Since you have 6 bottom pedals, you would at least have access to 6 rackspaces directly. Depending on how you set up your rackspaces, you may want to assign specific program change numbers in Gig Performer for a given rackspace.

Steve

Consider programming all your buttons so that each one sends a separate CC Number and when pressed you send 127 and when released you press 0. Then let Gig Performer handle the interpretation depending on what you need

For example, map some of them to song parts (setlist view) where each part goes to a different rackspace (or variation)

Then map two others to just go PREV/NEXT “song” to give you access to another set of song parts.

Thanks both, I’ll give it a try
