Miguel Pontin

There is already this great Story from the Tranches thread, where you can find plenty of info about Miguel.

But I figured out that we don’t have a dedicated Gig Performer in Action thread!

In the Keyboard Players in Cover Bands Facebook group, Miguel shared his experience with Gig Performer. (Thanks!)

Well… The summer tour has now ended and I must say that I if anyone is looking for a reliable, stable, amazingly versatile VST host software, GIG PERFORMER 5 is my go to!

I’ve been using it for a year, after MainStage giving me some grief last summer and I can only praise the development team at Deskew…

I’ve not had a glitch all summer. I’d turn on my Mac about 2 hours before each gig, for setup and soundcheck, 3 hours gig-time day after day… and I just cannot believe how cool as a spring breeze the machine is after work…

Doing “roughly” the same job with MainStage, I was able to fry an egg on the laptop

Idle CPU is at about 94% all night long on my 2018 i9 intel MacBook Pro

I’m using Kontakt, Korg Triton extreme, arturia synths, Vital, some Sample tank 4, Waves FX and other bits and bobs… Some CPU heavy stuff in there and not a single mishap all summer… From April until October…

I’m using an Oberheim MC2000 (not making use of its superb midi functions, though), an Arturia 88 Essential, Akai MPD232 to fire samples and change variations within GigPerformer, A Roland Edge and a Presonus 1824 sound card for 4 stereo issue sends to FOH … etc etc…

I really do recommend Gig Performer 5 to ANY KEYBOARD player or there who is thinking of changing hardware synths for software synths… an amazing tool to have for live performance.
