Unfortunately I have to go back to the problem I discussed with pianopaul. After I turned predictive load off again, the problem reoccurred. Wild jumps in CPU load. I then tested each Rackspace individually and the problem was isolated to Kontakt 7, which I was able to upgrade a few days beforehand via Native Access. The error seems to be known to Native Instruments, see here
