If I remove some rackspaces/variations, will that mess up the connection between songs and rackspaces?
For example, if I get rid of rackspace number 50, will that shift all the rackspaces down above that number so they are no longer associated with the correct song part? (Is there now empty rackspace at the number of the rackspace that was deleted? So, there is no “renumbering”?)
I would hope it does not mess up the relationship between song parts and higher numbered rackspaces, but I figured I would check.
I’m pretty sure that when a Song Part is assigned to a rackspace variation it doesn’t matter what its position is……it’s assigned to THAT variation. It should be easily tested by changing the rackspace order in the wiring view and then rechecking the assignments in Setlist view.
No, it shouldn’t mess with any other songs etc.
I regularly re organise my Rack spaces and this never has an impact on the songs themselves. Obviously if you delete a rackspce or variation belonging to a song then you will get an issue with that song, but it doesn’t seem to matter where the rackspaces sit in the main list.
The SongParts are using an internal unique identifier that’s tied to a rackspace. If you are curious you can look in the underlying gig file and you will see that there is an attribute associated with each rackspace and that’s used for the association. Moving the order of rackspaces or deleting other rackspaces has no impact on this.
