I am new to GP and recently moved from Mainstage. I’ve encountered an issue with the CPU usage. It almost hits 100% and I am not even using all the pkigins yet. I created same “rackspace” in Mainstage with all the plugins I want to use and cpu reaches only around 70%. It also crashed 4 times already. Any ideas how to solve the CPU issue? I thought GP isvmeant to be superior to Mainstage.
- can we see the crash report please - what were you doing that cause crash? Reproducible?
- tell us about your audio interface
- what sample rate and buffer size are you using?
- what plugins are you using
We are happy to help but you need to provide us with information so that we can diagnose what is going on
Please zip the crash file and upload it here.
Hi,
I don’t realy know where to find crash file.
I am on m1 max/64ram. The crash happ3ned when I was changing the buffer. I am at 128/48khz. I am using planty of plugins.
I continuously hear crackling and artiffacts in the audio.
Cpu goes to 100% when I am using Triaz in multi out.
It also crackles when I only use one plugin(TheSub)
Launch the Console app, then look down the left hand side for Crash reports.
What is plenty?
How many plugins do you have in each rackspace?
What is the Sub?
What audio interface are you using?
By any chance are you running Gig Performer in native (Apple Silicon) mode but loading AUs that are actually still Intel format?
I was actually using plugins in vst3 format.
My audio interfaces are audio4c and motu4.
I did not have any issues using same plugins in Mainstage. All of them are up to date,so doubt any of them is in intel format.
The Sub is just a sine based vst(very light plugin). It does not realy matter which vst do I use,the crackles and artifacts happen anyways.
Are you using the safety buffer in MainStage?
How look your audio settings in the options window in Gig Performer?
There’s something very wrong with the setup then — there is no way a “light” plugin would do this
We need to investigate this more. Please check your private messages
We did a zoom session during which I discovered that he was using two separate audio interfaces, one for input and one for output. Inserting that Triaz plugin caused the CPU to immediately jump to 10-15% even though it wasn’t even doing anything.
We switched to an aggregate interface (combining his separate interfaces into a single “virtual” interface) and that solved the problem completely. Inserting the Triaz now essentially had no impact on CPU and there were no more crackles with The Sub, etc.
Thanks for helping me out. It worka flawlessly now. I also reduced the amount of plugins I was using which helped even mire. Cheers. I highly appreciate your help.
For whatever reason crackling came back. Any idea why that might be??
There is no magic. Something has to have changed on your system.
I had to replace vst3 with au plugin. The crackling and glitching is gone.
What plugin was it?
Plasma by Izotope, and BlackBox by Brainworx.
