Gig Performer 5 New user

Help Please, so I recently started using gig performer 5 about a month ago, downloaded my plug-ins, hooked all the cabling up with midi… all works fine right to the interface, however, nothing works unless I go to options open audio setup and then close it and then it works!

Is this normal?

Also I have popping as well in the sound system……off and on!

Also have issues with the rack and the buffer size! Is it ok to have 4 or five plug ins on a rack to is this too much? Using 126 buffer and drop out issues…I have it as high as 400 now, seems to be ok, but still a few pops etc…

Any help would be great please and thank you!

Something I have to do with the Computer as Im a new user to GIG Performer 5

Are you using a dedicated audio interface?

Yes using the FocusRite 18i20

In gig performer you use the ASIO driver ?

Yes 100%

I’ve had pops when things weren’t synchronized, even with large buffer sizes.

In my case, I was using some loopback software, and it was using a different audio clock than the audio interface and gig performer. Everything was set to the same sample rate, but the clocks were drifting, It’s like slipping a cog on a bike chain.

Take a close look at the settings in the OS, the interface, and Gig Performer to ensure that everything is sync’s to the same clock.

Best of luck!

Hi @gordyg and welcome to the community

My first advice would be: Optimize Windows → FREE e-book by Deskew - Optimize your Windows PC for the stage!

My second thought: when you change your audio settings, do they get saved?
We had a user where a Windows update messed with his permissions, so he needed to change audio settings every time.

My third thought: make sure that audio buffer sizes and sample rates match between:

  • your audio interface (audio interface’s control app)
  • Windows integrated audio chip
  • Gig Performer Options

and use the ASIO driver for your hardware, not the generic one

…and make sure that no other software makes use of the ASIO audio before you start Gig Performer.
