First summer tour with Gig Performer

Ok… So… We’ve reached the end of your '24 tour (although we’ve been asked to be on guard for a possible gig on the 27th of this month… I doubt it’ll go through though)

My final thoughts on my first summer tour with GP:

F#**ing awesome!

I can’t worship the development team enough!

This is the best tool for the job… I all aspects!

Stability, usability, configurability, GUI… Ok… So the. Gui isn’t the best aspect of the tool… But WHO CARES! I don’t even look at it while I’m playing!

Not a glitch EVER ! … Super fast to set up a new rackspace from my own template etc etc…

The band was really successful but sadly, the owners are retiring after 44 years in the market so next year I’ll be with a new team of 12 musicians doing much the same…

I’ll post new pics and experiences as soon as we start wrecking the joint :rofl::rofl:

Break a leg, everyone! (Not literally, evidently)

I had a great summer… Great companions, awesome musicians, very professional roadies… brilliant public at every gig…

Will share more experiences… and hopefully, I’ll learn more GP functions and maybe some scripting… For now, I haven’t had any need for it but I’m going to drain my brain and make room for some use for scripting :rofl::rofl:

Awesome, Miguel! I haven’t played before a crowd of that size, since, well, ever.

If I had even one attendee nodding their head and tapping their toes along with my bass, I felt connected and happy. I do admit that I love audiences, the bigger, the better. My biggest audiences were speaking engagements all over the world when I represented my company (the “batwing” logo). I was the “go to” for events where the audiences were people for whom English was not their first language. My largest audience was in Malaysia at just over 1000.

Nothing like your audiences! I envy you! :sunglasses: :guitar: :+1:

I’ve had shows with over 5,000 people and I’ve had shows where 8 people showed up. The latter is just horrible, there’s no energy in the room and it’s really a struggle to perform.

But my favorite shows are when parents bring their children to expose them to the music.

You make it sound like if it’s questionable whether they will survive :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Not at all. I brought by daughter to a Yes concert when she was 8 years old and she had an on-going love for prog music ever since. At one show we did with my PF band, some guy came up afterwards with his daughter who then hugged me, she was so thrilled to have heard the music.

I think exposing great music to young people is really worthwhile.

I was joking (I thought). :grinning:

I invite you to Spain (La Coruna) and experience our shows… Not just ours but any band in this region… It’s a huge deal here… There are some groups with up to 5 trailers… 3 are joined together to make a massive stage and the other 2 are for lugging gear… Our group was a decent size… 9 up on stage, 2 FOH and 3 roadies… just 1 trailer …

Next year’s, I think there are 2 roadies, 2 FOH and 12 up on stage… I haven’t met the team yet… And I probably won’t meet them until the first gig because they never rehearse… Weird… They must have a lot of faith in us… Haha

Definitely has happened to us, too… Not 8 maybe… 100, possibly … from there upward…

Definitely… I always put David Lee Roth (skyscraper album), Michel Camilo band and all sorts… Just so she doesn’t listen to just reggaeton and crap of the sort

That way they’ll develop an immunity to becoming a musician.

Miguel,
Keyboardist/Music Director, Bob Luna contacting you. It seems you might be on the cutting edge of using GP in live concerts as I believe I am. Maybe, like minded musicians can help each other in a discussion; I know that you probably could help me in the setup requirements. I recently did an interview with Brett Pontecorvo on Backstage as I see you have as well. I would send you a link but there had to be some editing done and not sure if it’s completed. At any rate, I wanted to start a dialogue with you and this was the most convenient way. My website is: Performance
Looking forward to your reply.

Hey Bob.

Nice to meet you here.. I haven’t seen that interview… Strange.. I can’t even find it. I found one from about 5 years ago..

Still.. I’ll check out the website this evening but, meanwhile, here’s my email. [email protected]

Looking forward to dialoguing.

Cheers.
Miguel

There were some issues with YouTube, still in the process of making that one available again.
