Slow learner here (81 years old!!) I recently bought a Surface Pro 10 for business with 64 gig of ram. Due to its faster processor, I am experimenting with predictive loading settings and I am using 3 at this stage. Question 1. If the “green loaded” wording appears bottom left, then quickly changes…

I have a lots of songs and rackspaces in my big Gig file. I have 120 GB of ram. Thankfully, I think I have every sampled sound in my gig that I need and the ones I use most are in the Global Rackspace. So, I have been able to re-use them instead of adding a new sampled sound. (I have experimente…

For a 1 hour show at a lifestyle village, I use a set of 25 songs. I set predictive to 3 and the Gig file loads in less that 20 seconds. For a 3 hour gig at a farmers market, I reset predictive to 1. I load my large Gigfile of 400+ songs which takes about 3 1/2 minutes. Setting to 1 allows random so…

May the structure of your gig file could be optimized. Are you currently using for each song a new rackspace?

Y [image] Flodder: Are you currently using for each song a new rackspace? [image] Flodder: Are you currently using for each song a new rackspace? Yes I am. I was advised in the early days to use a seperate rackspace for each song. 95% of my songs use bass and drums, and each new song …

OK, with which instrument you are playing the drum and the bass? With keys, or do you have a e-drum and a e-bass? In each of your rackspaces you are running a vst for the drum and a vst for the bass? How many different vst’s you use?

[image] bigalminal: Yes I am. I was advised in the early days to use a seperate rackspace for each song Well yeah - but that was before we had songs and setlists. [image] bigalminal: each new song uses a different drum kit and a different bass. You have 400 songs (if I understand you …

But sometimes with a very large one [The Largest Drum Set in the World! --- 813 Pieces & Growing!]

It seems that methodology really uses up memory, especially loading in different instances of drum kits, which can really use up the ram. But if it works for you, that’s all that matters. I would probably approach things differently, probably putting a drumkit or two (maybe 3 if necessary) into the…

Here’s a quick summary of my experience after a year with GP: I currently have about 150 songs. My MacBook Pro M3 with 32GB couldn’t handle it. Now I have a MacBook Pro M5 with 128GB. GP runs very well on it at the moment. Memory pressure is at 46%, and memory usage is at 93%—even though GP itself …

@bigalminal One more thing: I think it’s really great that you’re still so active at your age and are embracing this technology! Hats off to you!

Do I finally understand predictive loading?
