Core questions re i7-12700h

I’ve been reading a lot of posts about core affinity and ThrottleStop, etc, but I’m still not sure how to maximize the performance of Gig Performer on my Windows laptop with 40gb ram and an i7-12700h cpu. Audio interfaces are at times Audient iD-4 and other times Behringer UMC404HD. I’ve set the laptop to Ultimate Performance but I’m now embarking on multiple instances and assigning threads/cores. Any suggestions for my setup? Thanks in advance!

Mike

With multiple instances, you can pretty well let Windows manage the core affinity for each instance. It’s nearly guaranteed to ensure that each instance is on its own core.

I’ve found that I don’t need the CPU speed maxed to 100% (as is the case with the Ultimate Performance power plan), and the QuickCPU app allows me to precisely attenuate the range in which I want the processor to operate. This also keeps the operating temperature lower, but if you have a good cooling system you probably don’t need it. ( I have an i7-1260P processor, which is essentially the NUC version of your processor— similar speeds, a little less power).
