Backing tracks source please

I mostly perform live, but need to buy a backing track for a certain song. What is a recommended source please? Also, knowing nothing, can backing tracks be transposed?

Thank you for the info. I didn’t actually spot a recommended source to buy from, unless you meant the free MOBI site?

This is my goto, the quality is usually excellent and you can download the individual tracks you need.

Karaoke version is the most popular one.

Where to find backing tracks

A popular place to find lots of commercially popular songs in the form of backing tracks is Karaoke Version. Although the web site’s name suggests ā€˜karaoke’ (see above its definition) you can also find there also all the stems for a desired song (along with the vocals and backing vocals). This is a paid service where every song costs $3.

I wanted Billy Joel ā€œPianoman,ā€ and finally found it by looking up the artist rather than the song.

What format is the easiest to edit re pitch, speed etc? Do I need special software to edit?

+1 for Karaoke Version. Very accurate high quality tracks.

It seems that WAV is the best to work with.

I been a bit busy, but I finally got my file. I loaded it into the audio file player and it sounds great. However, I do need to lower the key and boost the bass a bit. Can I do this in Audacity or do I need some other software? How do I actually separate the tracks, or is the editing done online and then re-downloaded?

You can do it right at karaoke version, on the bottom where your download button is. That’s what I would do.

You have to do it manually, just select the tracks you want and that’s what will download. If you want each one you can solo and download each in one individually.
