AI Supported Definition of Doors Keyboard Rig

During the development of a Doors keyboard rig I discovered that the Google AI Search provides a lot more detail information than the normal search. I therefore started a test to see what is possible using AI to support the configuration of a keyboard rig.

Within 2-3 hours I generated with the google search AI around 60 pages of very detailed information about effects chains for various Doors Songs. I focused / limited the search around the instruments and effects VST I own.

As the provided informations and options are overlapping and sometimes not 100% compatible I selected 2 options offered for the left hand Piano Bass. For each option I started a new AI Chat based on the offered effect chain. Goal was to see what detail information AI can provide to define the effect chain setup and the detail setting for each effect.

I documented the chats as PDF. All the content in the PDFs is AI generated information. I only reworked the formatting a bit, removed all the addition links / adds and unnecessary chats part to focus on the AI provided content.

The two PDFs and a rackspace to test them are attached. As a Reference there are also two LL EP5 Rhodes preset included in the rackspace.

What do you think about the results? Is AI a usable tool for this type of rig development and is the provided content of good quality?

I personally found the test very interesting. The chats provided a huge amount of new information in very short time, information I did not find without AI.

But you have to crosscheck the provided information. Information is sometime not wrong but not consistent: eg effect chain order can be different for different sound effects - but sometimes the different effect have been mixed up. Using a cross-examination method in the chat is a good way to discover issues and to drive the chat in the right direction and depth.

Doors Piano Bass Examples.gig (436.9 KB)

Doors - Left Hand Bass V2.pdf (136.1 KB)

Doors - Left Hand Bass V1.pdf (111.8 KB)

This is the key. If you are willing to check the results carefully and fully, AI tools can be very helpful.

The problem is when people take the results of an AI query at face value regardless of its veracity.

Yes that the main issue with all AI tools, BUT

our advantage in the instrument / effect setup is that we can easily separate junk/scrap from useful recommendation: We have EARs and we can HEAR if it is good or bad!

I’m a bloody amateur, therefore the provided content and recommendations was a good starting point and provided useful insight in the usage of effects, how to combine them and what setting to use beside the usual presets. That especially true for the non standard tools like Moogerfoogers / EQP-1a / Echorec and Primavera.
