Wireless keytar, sustain pedal, any suggestions

There are a few gigs where I will be bringing just my Keytar, and sometimes laying the Keytar down on a keyboard stand, as well as walking around with it. How can I set up a sustain pedal to work? Without connecting it to the Keytar? I believe MIDI solution makes a pedal controller that converts a sustain pedal to MIDI, but was curious if there was another workaround?

Thanks

You want to send the sustain messages to your keytar, right?

Is the keytar wireless connected to your set?

I would assume he wants to send them to whatever plugin is being driven by the keytar.

This article would probably be useful

As for conversion, AudioFront makes a USB device into which you can plug a sustain pedal or expression pedal and it will convert those to MIDI. They work well, I have several of them.

I want to send the sustain message to Gigperformer, I’m using the Keytar as a controller, but I want to be able to grab it and go, without disconnecting the sustain. I’m trying to just have a Keytar, and no other controller on stage

But sometimes I have songs where 2 hands are needed and the keytar needs to be flat.

Your requirements are not quite clear

Do you want to have a pedal you press at your feet when your Keytar is laying flat?

Do you want to have a pedal at the front of the stage when you’re standing up with the Keytar?

My Keytar, has a sustain button I can use when I am away from lying flat stand position, but I need a sustain pedal to use when I’m next to my Gigperformer rig, that does not go directly into my keytar, so I can always grab it and go. I was looking into the Morning Star pedals, I believe they might also have a solution, that can also eliminate some extra pedals, and consolidate. I’m assuming I would have to create a sustain widget, to accomplish this?

So you want to sustain the sounds produced by the keytar?

The Keytar is not producing any sounds, it is a controller for VST through gig performer, so I want to sustain sounds from gig performer, controller by my Keytar.

Maybe that could help

Then the issue is trivial. You get a sustain pedal for your feet and you follow the instructions I posted earlier on separating sustain pedal from other parts of the sytem

Thanks for all the help. I’m sure my questions are very simple to some, but I jumped in full force and feel like I’m constantly looking for solutions faster than I can research them myself.

I use a Boss wireless footswitch. It connects to my MacBook via Bluetooth so works with any controller I use and no wires. Just need to set the foot switch to send out a Midi CC number of 64 (IIR). Runs off batteries so no wires at all.
