Windows Shut Down GP Display

I just finished a gig. For the first time Windows replaced the GP display so I could not see it. GP still worked, but I had to hit the space bar to get the GP display back. So, it was a bit unnerving.

I did not change anything. Maybe a Windows update did it. I did do the last GP update, but no one else raised this issue.

I guess check Windows display settings?

‘Shutdown’ might be somewhat misleading: I think the powersaver kicked in (or the screensaver). The display on/of is controlled by the power plan. You can set that to ‘never’.

Thx, Frank, I’ll check that. Yes, everything was still working while (to my recollection) the main Windows screen took over the screen instead of the GP wndow. GP returned when I hit the space bar (or, presumably any key). Hopefully this is a “nothinburger”.

check your screen timeout and screen saver settings in the lock screen settings.

Thx, Wolf, I did change some of those settings from 10 minutes to 3 hours.

It’s a little weird because it seemed to occur when there was less than 10 minutes inactivity.

I have no idea if this could be relevant, but before the issue arose, I think I moved quickly through rackspaces using my controller. Then it seemed like my keyboard arrows no longer moved between songs/song parts.

But, I have not had the issue again.I spent like 6 hours at home with GP running and at a gig Saturday night without an issue.

This has been happening for me on my laptop recently after 5 mins, despite the relevant ultimate power plan settings being set to ‘never’. I think its a microsoft saving the world ‘feature’ now, that overides the power plan sleep settings on laptops.

The workaround is simple however, So long as GP is the ‘forground’ application (that is open and selected), it will prevent the sleep mode from happening. I might be wrong about the reason its happening, but the workaround has been 100% reliable for me. Hope this helps.

Interesting. Maybe I inadvertently did not have GP as the foreground application (but, I think it did).

Hopefully it is a one-time thing. I will also try not to stress my system by rapidly moving between songs using my controller. (Instead I will use search or use the mouse to find the song I want and select it).
