Which audio interface should I buy ? (Live Use + Recording)

A collector! :grimacing:

Hello there, I got an RME Babyface Pro finally !
One question, can I use it standalone it’s a bad idea ?

Yes you can use it standalone

Yes but…is it better for it to be bus powered or it’s ok ?

Help me to understand.
Standalone means at least for me not connected to a computer,
It would act like a mixer.
What do you want to do standalone?

Oups, I mean, is this better (when I use it in live with my vst) to have it plug only on the computer or better to have “wall power” also.

Power on better

Ok, thanks !

The best way is to be very sure of the power supply is to use an external DC power supply. Alternatively you could use a powered USB hub.

For live performance, unless using an inverter for power supply, I prefer to use the usb computer power (for a 2x2 audio interface).
In case of even short power failure, it prevents GP to lose the audio connection and to have to reload the gig.
And of course if playing on a battery-powered PA system, the public would not notice a thing. :grinning:

Hello, where can i buy this box?

You cannot buy it, it was self made. But, you can buy this cable organizer box that I use on stage:

My power supply strip is not inside, but outside, scratched on the lateral upright, so it faces me in case I need a quick access to it. Also the cable organiser box is easily accessible, I just need to move my lower keyboard.

oh i see, maybe can you sell me your construction plan for the 3D Printer? How much is it?

I am not here to make money, but I am not sure to find the 3D printer file anymore. I will try to. Do you own a 3D printer? If not, forget about it! For the fun, I requested a quote for it from a cheap 3D printing service and they requested me something like $800. It blocks the 3D printer for a long time, because some of the parts are quite big for a 3D printer.

FWIW, I have been satisfied with my inexpensive little Presonus Audiobox Go (but not enough inputs for you).

i could need ersuch a box for a device, the RME UFX III. And yes, we have a 3D printer

Have you checked pages like https://www.thingiverse.com
That’s often a good starting point before constructing something completely from scratch

Which kind of box are you looking for your 19’’ rackable RME UFX III ?

I would like to have such a box that you printed with 3D Printer where i can put the RME in an have it on the Keyboard stand k&m omega Pro under the
Keyboard

Oh, I didn’t understood that’s what you want to do, but the box I made is by far too small. Also, I think it wouldn’t be strong enough to hold an UFX III. You will probably have to find some iron mechanical parts instead.
