Looking for some insight. Right now I’m playing a Studiologic SL88 mark 2 GT into my laptop with my libraries. I love everything about it. Yamaha just released the MODX M8. It looks very inviting. There’s still something that intrigues me about hardware. Example: Say I have the CFX grand on the modx and I want to draw in a choir from Eastwest sounds. Can it be done? I just got rid of a CK88 because you had to turn off the local before you play a VST. Otherwise you got midi loops and notes started dropping. If its the same with the MODX, there isn’t any advantage. Thanks in advance for the help. Lanny
Are you talking about using Gig Performer ?
Can be done easily. It‘s not an issue of CK88. Its just how Midi works. If you leave local on and connect a Midi in to you hardware you will have double triggers and issues on any hardware. So I would recommend to turn local off to be most flexibel.
But if you ( for whatever reason) prefer to keep local on and still connect Midi in ( for patch changes) you can block Note on Messages in the Midi input of GP to prevent double triggers.
That will work on CK88, MODX or any other Hardware with own sounds.

High pianoPaul. Yes I am using gig performer. I thought it would be nice to use a controller that had internal sounds in the event of an emergency or in the event of a failure on the laptop. I thought that using the new Mo DX8M would be kind of cool using some of the internal sounds, and then layering a VST on top. Kind of silly on my part because I already have the ESP soft sent for the montage 8M. So I have everything. And I just got through loading pianoTec 9 which is outstanding. Plus, I have key scape, native instruments, collectors, edition, 15, Arturia, montage ESP. East west sounds. Every conceivable library that I can think of. Total overkill. So I’m not going to worry about doing the mud DX8M. I need to learn how to run gig performer lol. Plus I have an auditorium key lab mark 3 61 on top of the studio logic.
