I just noticed that UVI Plugsound Pro has been deemed legacy. Worse, the arpggiator seems to have been removed in the latest update. Well over 90% of my 500 rackspaces use Plugsound Pro for all sorts of bread and butter GM type sounds. Am I expected to upgrade to Falcon? And does Falcon have the GM range of sounds used by Plugsound Pro? Starting to panic a bit here at the moment!!
You’d have to ask UVI….but this is a perfect reason why I don’t upgrade my own live performance environment and I’m still running a system from 2019
Stop upgrading the OS …. Go back to an older version and leave it there!
And by the way, this is one of the reasons we try to keep new versions of GP compatible with older systems, so we are not forcing people to have to upgrade their OS to use it.
I havent done that. I have a second partition that remains static. It’s the software that was upgraded. I guess I shouldn’t have upgraded the UVI software.
2029?
Back to future?
You’re so picky🤪
No Falcon doesn’t have those bread and butter sounds that come with Plugsound Pro. They were included with the Pro Tools version of Falcon that came with Pro Tools previously.
I have now discovered since posting, that the arpeggiator is still there, just harder to find. My main concern is that if Plugsound pro is now legacy, will it eventually just stop working? Which begs the question - where are all the bread and butter GM modules that could replace it?
Good question. I did email a request to UVI about them including The Plugsound Banks that were in the now discontinued Pro Tools version in the regular version of Falcon and they said they would consider. Falcon is a wonderful plugin the weak spot for it is it’s factory banks. A lot of cool experimental sounds that show what it can do but not very much in the way of conventional sounds that you can use for songs. Perhaps you could email them and ask if they plan on including the Plugsound banks in Falcon
I have just emailed UVI begging them not to destroy Plugsound Pro. It is the only GM module (KORG has a couple but I haven’t found any others) that has all the sounds I want and is easy to use. I am not interested in Falcon because it doesn’t suit my needs without the everyday sounds I use. I am a covers guy and just don’t need creative synth sounds - bread and butter stuff for me.
If you’re looking for a GM plugin, checkout Purity from sonic cat. It’s very inexpensive, the sound quality may or may not be good enough for you but I’ve used it for testing MIDI files.
