Using a Boss FS6 with KeyLabMK3 to Next song part

Hi,
I have been able set up in the Global Rack Space two widgets that are successfully able to move to “next” or “previous” Song parts in a Set List (thanks to a prior post in this forum!) But I am having some difficulty trying to map to a Boss FS-6 Pedal i.e. ideally to go Next (B pedal) or go Previous (A pedal). I am plugging into the 1 Aux in on the Arturia Keylab MK3. So just to test it, I have tried a Single RTS to RTS cable on channel A of Boss, but can not get it to work to trigger a designated widget (after the Midi Learn). Maybe an issue with using the FS–6? (as a prior post was able to do it with FS-5 pedals). Need a certain cable config? Any feedback is much appreciated.

What MIDI message is it sending? Use the global midi monitor to see.

I recommend that each button on a pedal should be set to a different CC number and should send 127 when pressed and 0 when released.

The Arturia controller should display the value it will send to GP on the LCD (it is at least the case with my MK2). There are also polarity switches on the FS6 in case you need to invert it to make it work with the Arturia controller. Also set the other switches to momentary which is what you want to change rackspaces. And as mentioned by @dhj, please check with the GO Global MIDI Monitor what does the Arturia controller send when acting in the FS6 pedals.

Also check, that the FS-6 switches are configured as MOMENTARY
Have you set up AUX1 on the KeyLab with the Arturia MIDI control center? How?

Thanks all for the feedback… So the Boss pedal A (that is connected Via a TRS cable to to the Arturia MK3) is set to “Momentary” and the Aux1 on the Arturia is set up currently as: TYPE=Control, Midi Channel = ACTIVE, CC Number = 66 Min Value = 0 MAX Value =127. The Global Midi Monitor is showing the following after learning and pressing the A Pedal:

That’s useless, it’s sending continuous values….and it’s also sending on two channels

You need to configure it so it sends 127 when you press, 0 when you release, and nothing else….and also only on one channel

Thanks Dhj. The two channels are appearing probably due to the controller currently being split with ch 15 on lower section and 16 on higher. Aside from that, not sure why I am getting continuous values? I’ll work with it some more and try and figure out how to send only those two values.

You should never allow a device to send the same data on multiple channels - and you should allow only Gig Performer to perform such duplication if/when it’s necessary. Physical controls should just send On/Off (e.g. sustain pedal, buttons) or continuous values (sliders, knobs, expression pedals) and then let Gig Performer interpret them as needed.

IMHO you should connect the Boss pedal by a TS (mono) cable. So the Mk3 can derive dedicated on/off values…

Edit: and(/or) you should set the AUX 1 on the Keylab to “Switched Control”

What other ‘types’ are configurable for AUX1 on the Keylab? TYPE=Control might indicate expecting a continuous controller message instead of a ON/OFF. If you have two footswitches running over a single TRS cable and you’re running them as momentary, then you should be able to configure each of those pedals to be on a different MIDI CC #. This is how it works on the Sustain jack on my NI Komplete Kontrol S88 (Mk1 and Mk2). I have my far right pedal configured to MIDI CC 64 and the left pedal to CC 65, both sending momentary (127 pressed, 0 released) on their respective CC numbers. I can’t find much information in the Keylab manual regarding configuring AUX1, but I suspect there is a way you can emulate what I’m describing here and THAT would get you what you’re looking for.

Thanks to all for the helpful feedback… With a better understanding of things, I was able to do a slight work-around connecting the FS6 with a TRS to split mono cable into my Roland Fantom control 1 and 2 inputs (which is part of the 2 keyboard hybrid set up). With this, the FS6 is able to move between the song parts. Thank you again for all of the helpful feedback!

On the Arturia controller you can definitely configure a continuous pedal to act as an on/off one.

But for some controller it is not possible. Here GPScript could help:
