Update to 5

I have been gone a long time and not used Gig Performer because I was not able to figure how to perform live while travelling on a motorcycle around the world. 2 years later I am just about to enter Paraguay and have figured it out. I go to start gig performer 4 and it will not start. At the end I will paste the crash dump. Version 5 is out. There seems to be a weird upgrade path. What is the process? How much does it cost? And folks, why the weirdness? Usually there is a clear and defined upgrade path - like ā€œUpgrade your versionā€. Anyway, any and all help appreciated like usual. Crash dump:

You can find the upgrade and purchase information here.

GP5 is a separate entity from GP4, and as such isn’t an ā€˜update’. You can have both of them on your machine simultaneously.

As for the crash, have you tried loading a blank gig? If you hold down Shift while starting GP, it won’t automatically load the last gig file and you can perhaps narrow down which plugin(s) is causing a problem-- starting with that Helix Native vst3.

Well, there are all sorts of issues here. If you were using 4.5.8 then you were probably using the
latest version that was available from Plugin Alliance. We terminated our agreement with them several years ago and then we released a major update, 4.7 (albeit with the same major version number) and soon after, 4.8, which was only available from Deskew.

Last May, we released another major upgrade, version 5 with subsequent 5.x updates.

The complete history describing the changes over time can be found here

Once again I am impressed with GP forum and support. There is an upgrade path. Installing the last update of V4, 4.8.2 fixed the loading issue. Tomorrow I ride into and across Paraguay to a house I’ve rented for a month after almost 2 years on the road. This will be the first time I have parked for so long. Hope to get a lot of recording done, and get a long way into getting my live performance rig configured, working, set lists set up, tunes and improves set up, and everything tested. Its a lot for a month…there may be a few more questions…Peace all.

Ok, so I finally go to start working on GP and it will not start again. Nothing has changed. Here’s the crash xml file. Let me know if that helps. Also, starting GP with the shift down does no seem to work. Is there a way I can start GP with a blank session? Getting an error message saying that the audio interface was not found. Yup. Its old and I have a new one. Any help sincerely appreciated. I have not decided on upgrading to 5 yet. I want to see how far I get in 4 and if I’ll actually be able to use this. Thanks.

Can you rename your last used gig file and start GP again?

Cool man! Thanks. That worked. It took a while to find where I had these as its been a long time since I used GP. My day just got better.
