UAD Guitar Paradise Users Here ? .... if so, how are you changing Presets?

Hey all !

Currently running 8 x Racks each with a unique UAD Guitar Paradise Preset in each of the 8 x Racks - so 8 x UAD Guitar Paradise Instances

Am keen to try 1x Global UAD Guitar Instance - and Midi Switch between my 8 x Different Presets for each of my 8 x Racks.

Problem ?

UAD Guitar Paradise does not have any Midi PC functionality and has limited Midi CC functionality. It also has Midi Learn, but its of no help.

I thought I would try a Widget, but UAD Guitar Paradise does not show up in the list of selectable Plugins ???

Any ideas / thoughts ?

Thanks,
Alex. I

Using separate rackspaces is the obvious choice. If it works - why change it?

The only other option that comes to mind is to use GP Presets. If you can successfully save/recall your UAD presets using the GP Preset feature, then there are options for triggering those with widgets.

For GP User Presets, take a look at this: Useful scripts and Scriptlets - #10 by npudar

Of course, I’d always take the rackspace route.

Where is it not showing up? Even if it does not expose parameters, if it is an actual plugin (VST or AU, etc), it has to show up in the list of plugins

Sorry - to better explain.

It %100 does show up as an AU / VST 3 plugin and works in each Rack no worries.

When I add and create a Widget and go to the Plugin Mapping area and select “UAD Guitar Paradise” there is a list of selectable parameters but nothing at all even remotely for Selecting any specific Preset, or Next or Previous Preset etc…

There first 30 or so Parameters are for EFX Block settings and controls etc… and then there are 22 or so Parameters called … “Control 01” … “Control 02” … “Control 03” etc… all the way up to “Control 52”

???

In some plugins, you need to specify parameters that will be available to a VST host/DAW.

Try to find such options.

That doesn’t surprise me – host parameters are typically intended to modify values of whatever preset is loaded, they generally do not change presets unless the plugin developer specifically added such a feature.

Yep. %100 only Host Parameters available. Learning mode is Midi CC only and it does “learn” on the next / previous preset arrow … but it does nothing.

Midi CC Value learn does correctly work and is easily assigned for things like turning a Delay Pedal on / off or adjusting gain level on a drive pedal etc… … but there is literally no Midi PC spec of any kind in the UAD G/Paradise.

I’ve logged it with UAD Support - as have others … so I think until UAD “implement” Midi PC in the Plugin … I’m out of possibilities / options :frowning:

Even on the Official UAD G/Paradise Forum over at UAD, there are stacks of users who are in disbelief that there is no Midi PC at all … let alone even basic Midi PC for selecting presets :frowning:

Am using the AU Version - all my GP5 Plugs are AU

Tempted to try the VST3 Version but I just cant imagine it would be any different in this - lack of Midi PC - respect

Try the VST3 version as well.
Plugins may behave differently across different formats → [blog] Which plugin format is better: VST vs VST3 vs AU

UAD Paradise Guitar Studio is a classic case of a plugin being 100% designed for studio/DAW use and 0% for live use. It was never designed to change presets remotely or on the fly. Everything happens inside the plugin UI.

Certainly seems this way :frowning:

VST3 Version exposes the same Widget Midi Mapping Parameters as the AU -but adds- 2032 additional parameter slots marked as Midi CC 01 | 1 ↔ Midi CC 15 | 127 ie: 16 x Midi Channels with 128 Numbers each.

Struggling to imagine if this helps in any way ?

That’s a common thing for VST3, and it won’t help you change your presets.

As was suggested above, just use one rackspace per preset. GP does a better job of handling the switching than the plugins themselves do anyway, and you can control the Input muting and Output fading this way.
