A church I play at is purchasing two Yamaha MODX keyboards and I’d like to use them with my Gig Performer setup via Rig Manager so I don’t have to load in my own hardware controllers. I want to use my existing gigs with VSTs and none of the MODX internal sounds.
Does the MODX allow its buttons, knobs and faders to be used via an external application like Gig Performer via MIDI learn? If there are inaccessible components which ones are they?
I think I am going to need to purchase another suitable control surface to use with the MODX keyboards. One missing component from the MODX is assignable pads. I use pads for selecting specific rackspaces via a Gig script and widgets. What is a recommended control surface for adding assignable pads to this rig?
I hope the Yamaha driver can handle processing two MODX units on the same laptop. Has anybody tried that setup?
For my own gear I use a Native Instruments S88 mk2 for my main keyboard with a Korg nanoKontrol2 and a Novation SLK mkiii for the top tier. I use two GP instances therefore I would be using Rig Manager to re-map functions from one GP instance (NI S88, Korg nanoKontrol2) and a second instance (Novation SLK mkiii) to their respective MODX (and new control surface) counterparts.
