TH-U issues

Hi all,

I am having an issue with TH-U.

I am sharing rackspaces with a friend. I have my own paid version of TH-U and my friend has the version of TH-U that come with GP5. My version has the VST2 and VST3 versions and I have installed the latest version. My friend’s TH-U version is only installing the VST2 version and is not throwing up the box that TH-U needs to be updated to the latest version.
I am curious to know what credentials I should be using on the friend’s TH-U licence page because they obviously didn’t buy it directly from Overloud. Do I need to set them up their own account on Overloud and if so, how would I tell Overloud that their version comes from GP5.

This is all relevant because I am trying to share rackspaces to my friend’s GP5 but all the rackspaces with TH-U wont load up due to me using the VST3 version and my friend’s PC only has the VST2 version.
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Damo

Contact Overloud to get your friend a legitimate update to the latest version.

Poking around a bit more, it seems I have the full version (paid) and my friend only has the GP5 version. Is that TH-U essentials or is there another special version that is installed with GP5 ?

The version included with GP (and GP Essentials) is a special version with only a few effects.

Is there a way to force that version to install even if you have the full version? I was thinking if I can recreate my patches using on this cut down version then the rackspaces can be shared easier.

You’d have to ask Overloud that question. They just give us an installer and we include it in the distribution

I was referring to the version that comes with GP5. Is that downloadable anywhere? Ive tried to reinstall GP5 on my pc but I suspect it is detecting that TH-U is already installed and so it wont even ask me if I want to install the GP5 version of TH-U

I have absolutely no idea if one can deauthorize a full version of TH-U. As I said, you would have to ask Overloud

The Windows installer always prompts for the TH-U installation.

Mine doesnt. I tried a few times

I’m not looking to deauthorise anything . i am trying to have both plugins coexist on one machine

There are not two plugins. Just one that can be authorized in different ways

As David said – it is all the same plugin. It’s just the license that is different (and unlocks different features of the same plugin).

When you uninstall everything and then start the GP installer, it will prompt you to install TH-U. (And Synth Master Player afterward)

Got it. I will try to uninstall GP5.. but I was hesitant because it is working fine on my machine. I might just create a generic rock guitar patch using the TH-U cutdown version then reinstall the full version afterwards. Thankyou all for your fast responses. I’ve finally been using GP5 as it was intended and now encouraging others to use it aswell.

My guess that that won’t work. The license key for your full version of THU won’t be affected by a GP uninstall.

Maybe have your friend screenshot the models that are available in his version, then just use those in your rackspaces?

That’s what I’m just about to do.. But I am setting this up remotely so I can do it myself
