Greetings,
I recently recorded a bunch of all new samples of my trusty old Finnish made upright piano. This time I allocated a lot more time to choosing the microphones and trying out different placements, aiming for a very usable mono miked sound plus a stereo ribbon sound. The old Helsinki 1967 upright used relatively flat OM1s as the main pair, so with this one I went for the opposite: a rather coloured tube mic through a neve-style mic pre for the mono samples and much darker stereo ribbon mic for the player position samples. Personally I think the samples sound substantially better than on the old version. I also sampled more keys, one more velocity layer and round robins, thus making the library a bit larger (DSampler version is just under 4 GB uncompressed).
I have now built two versions: one for DecentSampler and one for Kontakt 7 (full version required, Kontakt Player will use demo mode). Both versions include a simple compressor, reverb with some IRs and a simple “HP, Boom, Air”-EQ.
Would some of you want to give it a whirl and possibly give some feedback before the official release? I’m offering this library free of charge, so I won’t be paying the testers but I will give you credit in the piano description when start sharing it to a wider audience.
Just hit me with a PM or answer this thread telling me which version you’d be interested in trying and I’ll send you a download link.
