Tapping 2 keys to clock a MIDI Sequence?

I just watched David’s superb demo, where he shows his setup and special techniques for his Reelin’ In the Years Band.

I know others were asking in the comments, and like them, I’d sure love to know how to set up GP to enable this variable manual clock control of the MIDI player – whether by tapping two keys, or pulsing the sustain pedal, etc.

Are there any instructions or tutorials available on this topic?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I will check out that link. I’m gathering this will take some scripting?

Yes, this will be necessary.

I read the thread recommended and it makes sense. My question; is there anyway to do this with a long sample? Thx

Be careful – this is not tap tempo — all I am doing is explicitly stepping the clock so, for example, if your MIDI file is using 480 ticks per quarter note and you have one note event every 480 ticks and you are using a quantization of 480 ticks, then each time (and only each time) you press a key (or the sustain pedal), you will get the next note. The notes won’t play continuously.
