Stuck notes and loss of communication

Hello everyone!
Kinda new to GP and so far it has been rock solid during every performance…but I have experienced a few glitches during soundcheck so I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so what was the cause. I did the usual things such as swapping cables etc.

Glitch 1
Stuck note on the PK5. Midi kill command did nothing nor did hitting any other key stop it. Had to unplug and reboot.

Glitch 2
Total loss of communication to all four controllers while playing. Also fixed by a total reboot.

Luckily every performance has been without a single hiccup…which I just probably jinxed by typing it out loud. LOL

Thanks in advance for taking the time to look at this.

RIG is as follows
Macbook Pro M4 MAX with 48 GB Memory
J5 Create powered USB Hub
2x Roland PK5’s
One PK5 connected via M-Audio USB Uno cable
One PK5 connected via UM One MK2

1x M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61 connected via standard USB cable

1x Logidy UMI 3 button midi controller connected via standard cable.

Did you double click on the “kill” icon to kill audio too?

Are you using a USB hub? Is it powered?

Yes and Yes :sunglasses:

I seem to have some stuck note issues with some plugs ins. Is the stuck note with a specific plugin?

Losing all midi connections is weirder.

You are using an old school midi cable for the “Logidy UMI midi controller”?

If so, I wonder if this could be the issue. (I thought I read about some issue with this). Could you replace with a USB cable?

Can you recreate it while looking at the Global Midi Monitor? (Other can probably be more helpful than me). See what was happening right before

As far as I understand this is not what we usually call a powered hub. It is powered to powered supply your computer, but not the connected peripherals. At least it is what I understand from their website.

I personally use this one which works very well:

It could be that the USB chip of you computer cannot deliver enough power for all your controllers, I would first use a good powered usb hub.

The J5 is a true powered hub via the supplied power supply it comes with.

Which exact model? I was curious and looked up J5 and some of their models do not supply power to all the peripherals

I use this model as well as the 7 port version sometimes.

From my own experience, I’m usually skeptical when the description for a powered hub doesn’t reveal how many watts of power are being supplied, as is the case here.

Hmm,
From the specs…

Downstream Charge Port
USB™ Type-A 3.0 Female Connector With Battery Charge *1 Port
Supports 2.1A Fast-Charging

Downstream Port
USB™ Type-A 3.0 Female Connector *3 Ports

From reading the above, it is not obvious that power is being supplied to those USB A ports.

First thing I’d try is trying with another powered hub, the Anker hub is a good choice. People here have generally positive experiences.
