Ok here’s the scoop.
I’m getting ready to use GP live for the first time next weekend so I’m running through everything in the 25 song set daily.
The only issue I am having is that the SAFP will randomly trigger on song change.
The issue is not isolated to any one song and sometimes won’t occur for a day or two. The only way I can fix it is to delete the widget I have set to trigger the SAFP and replace it.
Note…it occurs whether I change songs with my controller or if I use the trackpad on the Macbook Pro.
Hopefully someone can help me out.
Things within GP don’t happen randomly.
Something is triggering the SAFP:
- a song part that has an action to trigger it directly
- a widget that’s mapped to the SAFP playhead
- the controller is sending out an additional message on a song part change
- if the SAFP is set to Sync with Host, a press of the spacebar(perhaps accidental?) will start the global playhead thus starting the SAFP.
- or…
Thanks @edm11
All of your points are correct.
But, when this occurs I have disconnected all of the controllers and just clicking on the song in my setlist or on the rack in wiring view triggers the widget.
Example, if I am in any song in my setlist and click on the offending song (at this very moment song 1) the song opens the widget is “Green” and the sample.
Something is telling it to launch.
I’m not new to this kind of setup but I am new to GP so I’m sure it’s on my end but I can’t seem to pinpoint it as it isn’t always the same song that has this issue.
When you switch songs, widgets will be updated unless they have the “Ignore Variations” option set. Could that be an issue?
@dhj
Thanks for the suggestion.
I just set “ignore variations” to “on” in every song that has the SAFP.
I’ll see if it occurs again and report back.
I have a button I can click to start a track play. If that button is set to remember last setting, your last setting may have been play. It’s bit me several times. I don’t use it on an actual song. I use that one a song I use in practice when working on new song where I can select voices and tracks to play along with. So, I haven’t actually changed that setting in every place that it exists.
