Speeding up Windows library load times

I came across this on another forum related to the load times of the Garritan CFX Abbey Road piano on Windows - which can sometimes take literally minutes to load up the huge sample sets (even on an SSD drive).

This clearly does not apply to all users as they may not be using the Windows built in anti-virus - but it may help with other sample libraries or even VST load times in general. I tried it and the load times for CFX were remarkably faster.

Anyway - here is the hack (the timings are from the original thread - although mine are similar) - I hope someone finds it helpful. But as always - use it at your own risk…

- With Garritan folder excluded from windows’ native virus & threat protection: 20 sec
- With Garritan folder NOT excluded from windows’ native virus & threat protection: 80 sec !!!

Windows is great. Very easy to change settings, just a few clicks away:
Start Menu -> Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Security -> Virus & Threat Protection -> Manage Settings (under Virus & threat protection settings) -> Add or remove exclusions (under Exclusions) -> Add an exclusion -> Folder -> Select folder where Garritan is installed (in my case: C:\Program Files\Garritan\CFX Concert Grand) -> Click select folder -> done!

Maybe try adding the entire sample drive …
