Some VST's not receiving note off

A. Quick question regarding the Midi In Blocks. As ive said, all are Omni but also all set to only work on midi channel 1.

It was suggested maybe don’t use Omni. Ive never used anyhing else, but happy to change them all to just the MODX.

I know how to do this, just use replace and select the MODX as midi input, but is there anything i need to watch out for?

The reason i used Omni was because i was using different controller’s, depending on where i was. Now im pretty much settled i don’t mind setting things up just for MODX, but what happens if i need to use a different controller temporarily?

Sorry, i know this is basic stuff but ive never had to think about it before.

That is precisely why we invented the Rig Manager!

I do use Rig manager, totally forgot about that.

So if, say I use an Arturia controller but my in blocks are expecting a MODX, do I just associate the Arturia with the MODX? Im not really clear on how this works. Ive used rig manager to set up my various controllers, but if the in block is excepting a MODX how does that work for a different controller? Im ok with setting the various sliders/knobs etc, im just not sure about the in blocks.

Any help appreciated.

Did you read the user guide about rig manager?

I haven’t yet. Like I said, ive been using it for what I need dit for, and nothing more. I will figure it out.

Yeah, I have the manual, just though I might get a bit of help asking. I’ll work through it when I need to. Thanks

I have found whats causing my stuck notes.

This is just based on one Rackspace at the moment, but I will check any others. I can reproduce it using the Arturia OP-Xa VST 3. Im getting ready for a gig on Friday so cant do a lot fault finding until after that.

It seems to be coming from the Midi in block. I realised I have an octave shift when I change variation. If im playing notes and change variations, I can get the hanging note. Only one each time.

If I bypass the VST it stops, but will start sounding again when I un bypass the VST. If I bypass the Midi In block, it stops, and when ive un bypassed the midi in block the sound has stopped. It also stops if I change variation and back again.

I have created a new gig file with just this one VST in it if anyone wants to have a look at it and see if they can reproduce it.

Things are getting worse. I now have a stuck not when im using Chord maker. Always the same note. Im not changing variations, just doing a run up of notes. This is in a Rackspace ive been using for a while.

It seems to happen semi-regualry, I cant force it to happen, and although bypassing and un bypassing the Chord maker block does stop the note, I have to restart GP to fully clear it before i can use that Rackspace again. Luckily I only use that on one song in one very small part.

Are you still using Omni, or you now use a specific MIDI In block?

Still using omni. This is quite an old rackspace that I’ve been using for a while. I don’t want to start changing things before a gig and still haven’t had time to read the manual yet. After this weekend i have some time off to look more in to it.

I’m very tempted to update to Mac OS 26 as well. Not because of this issue, but for other reasons.

You can duplicate the file and do your experimenting on the copy. That way nothing changes for your main gig.

What i meant is going through all my Rackspaces and changing the midi input blocks over.

I’ve been leading new songs this week for tonight and tomorrow, not had time to do this and then check every rack space is working ok.

You can change the physical MIDI device for all OMNI In Plugins in 1 go.

Sure, do this when you have time.
Make sure to create a backup of your gig files before experimenting.

Generally, when you replace a MIDI In block in a gig file, you will be prompted with a dialog to make the adjustment in all rackspaces in that gig file.

Thanks. I did start the other day and didn’t get the offer to change them all.

I did 3 Rackspaces but then stopped. I’ll have more time during the week.

Ah cool. Thanks for that. It looks really helpful.

I had been right clicking on each block and using replace.

It is allways worth to read the user guide

Yeah know Paul, you said that already. I haven’t had the time to do anything, and have said I’ll sort it out after the weekend.

I wasn’t asking for help right now, and would of course figure it out by searching for the answer. When i ready to do the changes I’ll read up on how to do it. I promise
