I know some frown on the Roland cloud stuff, but I love it and use it all the time.
I‘d love to use some of the Roland Synth live (D50, JD800, XV5080, Zenology) but the Roland Cloud Licensing is a nightmare.
It‘s not usable for me.
What issues did you have?
It’s not been a nightmare for me. Its easy enough to keep on top on it if you can be bothered.
Ive had minor issues over the past 3 years, but of the past couple it’s been rock solid.
The need to authenticate online every 30 days although I have lifetime licenses is an unneccesary pain.
I had issues several times while rehearsing and once while performing, when the Instruments wanted me to authenticate online.
And even when it was authenticated I had some issues as the service was buggy and needed updates or reboots.
Never had this amount of issues with other Instruments.
Fair enough. Like I say, if its too much much for some to bother with I totally understand. Never had this issue myself, I always authenticate a day or so before a gig, because i know what can happen, and so far it never has.
I do recall issue with their servers a few years ago, but again, never its never been an issue for me.
Is this an older Roland News Blog article? ![]()
Just checked my plugins: my XV-5080 is 1.0.7 and from 14-NOV-2025 - AU/VST 3 already Apple Silicon supporting?! Also no update hint on the Cloud Manager?!
Maybe it was an old blog. I did google to see what the updates were and came across that. I did wonder what it meant.
Saying that, there were new updates for those in Cloudmanger last night, and that, and the VST’s were newer versions than what I was using at least weeks gigs. Cloud manager seems to be updated every few months for me.
Ive deleted that link as it does seem to be an old one.
