Sharing Gig files with media between computers

I don’t know that that’s going to be an option. So many people keep all their impulses, Tonex Captures, NAM captures and presets etc… in dropbox or google drive and use them that way.

In live situations I would never rely on Internet connection.

These files are offline, there is no need for an internet connection

Can you manually load this files?

Yes, from the location given in the path. I’m going to resave these again and drive down to where the windows pc is and try some back and forth stuff later today.

Hmm, this is a scenario we might not have tested. You have a wave file saved using Windows reverse slashes. I wonder if, when on a Mac, the search process doesn’t recognize those reverse slashes.

I’d like to test this.

Could you please upload a simple Windows gig file that contains just a SAFP and a reference to that Level Test.wav file (in Windows format). Also upload the Level Test.wav file as well

I’ll do that if I get down there today…should hopefully.

One thing I noticed is that the paths added only show up on the computer you added it on. On other computers that path does not show up in the list. I figured this was the expected behavior so there wouldn’t be confusion between computers, but is it the case that I should see every path from every computer listed in that Locations options window?

No - the paths are stored as part of your settings — there would be no particular reason why the paths should be the same on different computers.

Weird, if I try to add a path on the mac to the path I added on windows it gives me error: path already added”

Here are two gigs, one where it was only saved on Windows, but says it can’t find the file, even though that same path can’t be added on mac because its already added
And another file where I opened it on mac, tried to add the mac path but couldn’t resaved it and it still opens and finds the file fine on Windows

share test saved on windows then saved on mac.gig (14.4 KB)

share test only saved on windows.gig (14.4 KB)

And the test file

ok - this seems to be a bug in the version of JUCE we are using – I’ve added it to our tracking system to be fixed ASAP
