For example, in this case it is Pianoteq. Now I will be using several variations of this one VST, IE different sounding pianos and presets, so should I use variations within a rack, or a new rack for each different one?
I am asking as I totally setup up Cantabile wrong when I first started with it, and ended up starting over twice!!
Same question I guess would apply to splits. Mostly bass and keys plus a synth. And I better setting up a “split” rack and then just altering the patches, or separate racks?
Thanks.
Sorry for the noob questions…but if I don’t know I need to ask…I am reading the manual in conjunction with posting, so between the two I hope I can get up and running very quickly!
Pianoteq is one of the plugins I use also. There are various ways to organise your rackspaces, but the way I do it, and seems to be the conventional way for GP, is to have a separate rackspace for each song and use the variations to alter settings for different parts of the same song if required (I tend to just have the one variation per rackspace). This will also bring in to play the “patch persist” option which means you can keep the sound on one rackspace ringing out while you switch to another one… necessary if you segue songs like we do in our band…
Just chiming in to make clear that “variations” of rackspaces only store the state of the widgets you are using on your rackspace panel - not more, not less!
Means, for everything you want to be stored (or recalled) by a variation, there has to be a separate widget on your panel.
