Setting Up B.U. Computer

So I’ve decided to try to set up a backup laptop that could be ready in case something ever happened to my main one. The idea is to take it to the gigs and if something happened to go wrong, it would only take a few minutes to get it going.

What is the best way to copy everything over from my primary to this backup? Both initially and ongoing as I make changes to the primary? If it’s just changes to the gig file I know it won’t be much of a problem. I’m more concerned with keeping up with new or updated vsts.

What I wish is that I could just copy a few directories from the primary over to the back up and be done, but something tells me it’s not going to be that simple LOL.

Hey, Ken,

I have a duplicate backup laptop. (I keep it in my rehearsal space and do not bring it to gigs).

There were no real short cuts in my case. I installed all the same plugins using the same file paths.

I guess for GP files that are not part of the gig file (e.g. Rig Manager, etc.), you’d want to copy and paste them (I sort of forgot about that in my case).

Any plugin updates, I do twice.

Any separate samples are separately copied to the new computer.

So, in my case, no short cuts. But, some peace of mind.

Good luck!
