When I press space bar, I see the green Play Button start on Gig Performer. When I press start in GP I’d like to send a start signal to my external MIDI sequencer.
I’d like to have the option to send MIDI clock (Gig Performer Tempo) as well as only start/stop messages without Clock info.
Anyone do this? i need to send start/stop and clock to a physical external advice, so Ableton Link would need to be converted somehow I believe. I’m on PC if it’s relevant.
There are some software solutions: this is one the runs as vst plugin, but you must use an virtual midi cable along with it (loopbe, loopmidi). When you use a separate instance op GP, you could use that for sending start and stop via OSC also.
Edit: OSC is not of much use, if you want to control external devices. Sorry. And you don’t need a virtual audio cable to control external either
Edit 2: The TXL plugin is doing MTC, so it is not helpful at all when it comes to a simple midi clock. Sorry again
I’ll preface this with admitting I don’t use/need midi clock sync. However I previously did some tests with various apps (including iOS) and found that Ableton was the most stable/accurate.
Thanks for the article @npudar but I am having trouble synching GP to the external clock sent from my sequencer.
I started a new GP session. In rackspace selected “Sync Tempo with External Clock” but see no change in GP tempo.
I;m successfully getting MIDI notes from the external sequencer in GP’s MIDI monitor. AND, I am able to sync other pieces of gear to the clock. But all the while, GP is not changing it’s tempo.
That’s a good question. I’ll confirm that my DAW is successfully receiving clock later this afternoon. But how can I confirm that GP is or is not receiving clock? How can I monitor a clock going into a software like GP? I know how to monitor notes and CCs coming in to GP from other controllers, but not clock.
