I have another specific question: I got a plugin that I mainly use for vocals: Stutter Master 2 by Vox Samples. Initially, I couldn’t get it to work. Support told me the DAW MUST be set to play. Now it works. Currently, I only have one song I can perform with it. For this song, it’s no problem to set Rackspace to play using a widget. The problem arises when there’s a click track that I need to turn off. Then the plugin stops working because the play button is no longer active. I don’t know if I’ll ever actually encounter such a situation. So, just as a precaution, I’m asking: Is there any way to bypass this? Like a separate play button that tricks the plugin into thinking GP is set to play?
There are many plugins that require the playhead to be engaged in order to work properly. To my knowledge I don’t think there’s any way around it.
Like I said, it’s not a big deal yet. I don’t know how many people here have a similar requirement.
At least I posted it here. Unfortunately, I don’t understand why the plugin only works with the playhead active in a DAW.
Please, no explanations. I won’t get it.![]()
I’m clueless (never dealt with this), but could you just mute the click track or lower the volume (to zero) for that rackspace?
That would be a workaround. Instead of turning off the click track, I can set the volume to 0 using a widget. But if I need the click track again during the song, it won’t be in sync anymore, because I’m not restarting it, I’m just increasing the volume. I haven’t found a use case for that yet, though.
I only ever need the click track at the beginning, when I’m starting a song on my own, so I always have the right tempo. When the band joins in later, I always deactivate the click track because only I can hear it.
I just figured it out: The metronome icon is always active for me. A floor button triggers the play button – I always hear the metronome starting at 1. If I want to activate the plugin, the playhead has to be active. So I also hear the metronome. This means I HAVE to control the metronome with the volume and hope I never have to restart it mid-song.
