Sampletank 4 for for $1.00

Humble Bundle is blowing out Sampletank 4 ($1.00!) and some other IK items.

I was considering picking up something comparable to a synth workstation (to fill in any gaps if I needed an particular insrument). So, I bit, and picked up Sampletank 4 for $1.00 (the real cost is the time downloading/installing/and hoping there are no issues).

So, figured I’d post it here. (FWIW, the VI Control Forum posters seem comfortable it is legit if it comes through Humble Bundle and it seemed to register fine with IK in my case.)

[I will also note that some posters have noted some issues with Sampletank when they used it in GP in some use cases. So, perhaps do a search in the forum.]

Just downloaded this last night and it’s legit. I was going through the presets and it seems to be your basic rompler type sounds, for $1 I figured I’d try it out.

Will probably never use it as it crashed GP after about 10 min of going through presets.

This price sounds like a kind of waste disposal

I won’t use SampleTank — I had version 4 and had tons of issues with it.

Kontakt 6 for me!

Now we will get Kontakt 8

And you’ll still have to pay to use recent and future plugins. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I take it there is more or less consensus that $ 1 for Sampletank + the work involved downloading and installing it, isn’t really worth it, with the problems users have had using it with Gig Performer.

I wrote a blog article recently that might be worth reading. I think people often get too hung up on the initial price of a product and forget about the time=money cost for ongoing work with a product.

The initial price generally becomes a very minor percentage of the total investment.

I am curious. Is anyone using it who is happy with it?

SampleTank. When free is still too expensive.

I hate the UI and I absolutely f’ing despise the sounds/instruments installation and authorization process.

Agreed on the installation process. I have not installed it yet (though I used to use an earlier version when I was recording on my DAW).

Putting that aside, is it working okay for you?

It works OK for my very limited use of SampleTank instruments. I mostly use Syntronik instruments. I could host them in ST, but prefer the Syntronik UI.

Yes, I only intend to use it rarely, if I need a particular instrument that I can’t find in my other libraries (Kontakt Factory, NeoSoundstation2, V Collection, and lots of narrower sample libraries (Session Horns, Pianoteq, Lounge Lizard, etc.)).

Ohhh Yessss !!!

David-san,

Putting aside the download/installation horror show, do you use it? Does it crash on you?

I would just use it as a simple rompler, with very little tweaking,

Jeff

I use Syntronik, but not Sampletank. I have seen too much issues of people using Sampletank, that I won’t take the risk.

After searching Sampletank on this forum, I am not going to install sounds. I am not going to take a chance using Sampletank 4.

So, I’m out $1.00 (hah!) and a few hours downloading sound files. But, I think I am saving myself a lot of grief.

Is there anything i could try to still use the sounds?
