I’m looking for a way to map my own recorded drum samples
(multi-mic setup on a standard drum kit), hit at various “velocities”,
using the standard GM mapping but with multiple outputs, for authentic mic bleed.
So when I send C1 MIDI to the sampler it would trigger 8 mono and 2 stereo samples (the mics on kick in+out, snare top+bottom, hihat, tom1,tom2&floor, a stereo OH pair and a stereo Room pair), that all were recorded at the same time when the kick drum was hit.
Do this for several velocities per instrument (about 3-8), and of course for all the different drums and cymbals on the kit.
I used to do this with NI Battery (which I don’t have at the moment, but will get if that turns out to be the best option) but I’m wondering if there are other options out there. I have Kontakt and UVI Falcon, and of course Decent Sampler, and should have a working version of Reason as well.
I know I could do this in Kontakt and Falcon, but as far as I can tell it needs to be done in the graphic editor and no way to edit the sample map (even though you would have a sensible naming structure).
So - has anyone done something similar to this?
