Hi Everyone,
Been trying to implement GP for a bit now for a solo show and the v5 Action Management is just the ticket!
However…
I’ve added markers to my backing tracks to switch to the next song part in the Setlist automatically.
But…
When the marker activates in the SAFP, sometimes it will skip forward 2 song parts. Sometimes it will work as intended and at other times, skip-skip, as if it were a non-momentary footswitch.
I’ve tried this on 2 PCs (Win 10 and 11) with different audio interfaces and also without any MIDI enable at all.
Same result.
I’m dead in the water now if I can’t trust the Song Actions.
Thanks for your help!
Which version of GP are you using?
I can’t replicate it here using 5.0.40.
Is your SAFP in the Global or local rackspace?
Maybe button triggering widget is triggering it twice? Are using a keyboard key? Momentary setting?
Did you midi learn note on and off (did not turn midi learn off before letting go of key)?
Thanks.
V5.0.40
SAFP in Global Rackspace.
No button or switch or key. Just an Action in the SAFP to goto Next Song Part.
Do the song parts in question have any actions themselves?
See if you can try with this gig file.
Download the mp3 file below and put it in C:\Users\Public\Music
Then load the gig, open the SAFP (in the Global rackspace), switch to Setlist mode (if it isn’t already), and start the SAFP.
The markers cycle through the five song parts.
I haven’t been able to reproduce any issues with this.

Wow, thanks for preparing that. It worked fine and cycled through all five in proper order. You gave me an idea though, my mp3s are in my OneDrive. I’ll move them to the local music folder and see if the one in question still skips at the same spot. I’ll let you know. Thanks.
Actually there were only four markers…
I updated the gig file to cycle through the song parts and then cycle back to the first part, so you can download it again and try.
Ah, the reason for the 5 mins. OK thanks
The new Gig worked as expected. Up the five Song Parts and then back.
I’m going to recreate my backing track in your Gig file and see what happens.
Moving the backing track to local storage didn’t make a difference, it still skipped, but in a different place.
I sometimes use that blank 5 minute mp3 in the SAFP for marker actions only on a timeline – no music. I have a blank 10 minute file as well for longer songs.
So re-creating the backing track (stored in the same public music directory as the 5 min file) in your Gig file, the marker skipped immediately over the Verse from Intro straight to the Chorus. It seems it may be something inherent to the backing tracks themselves. I got them from Karaoke Version and they are licensed to use.
Interesting, can you upload one of them here so I can try it?
Here you go. Thanks for helping.
Hmm, no problems for me with that mp3. I even spread the markers out more to see if it was something deeper into the song.

I’m thinking the song part(s) themselves have an action. Can you upload a small version of your gig file that still reproduces the issue?
So interestingly, on a whim, I grabbed and repositioned each marker that was skipping. (In my Gig and yours) It seems to have fixed the problem. I tried it on three songs that were giving me trouble. I went in and out of your Gig and mine and the changes seem to have stuck.
I don’t know if it’s permanent, but I will keep testing.
Not sure how to break up the Gig, but for now “jiggling” the markers seems to work.
Well, I’m glad you found a way to make it work for now. Perhaps some sort of corruption occurred in the gig file and now that you’ve changed the position of the markers it has corrected itself.
Yeah strange.
Your safptest(2).gig worked fine BTW.
Thanks for your time. I’ve been watching so many videos lately and everyone always says how helpful the community is. I’m glad it’s true. Thanks again for you time and effort.
The great part of this community is that most of us want others to succeed as much as we want it for ourselves. It’s not competitive here or filled with egos. I’ve learned, and continue to learn, a lot from others and that collaborative effort to lift each other up makes a huge difference.
