Rubén Valtierra is the award-winning keyboardist and producer best known for his 30+ year collaboration with Grammy-winning comedy music legend “Weird Al” Yankovic.
The two met at the Dr. Demento 20th Anniversary special in October 1991, and shortly after Valtierra joined his band.
Starting out in Santa Cruz, California in the 1980’s, Rubén and his jazz/funk fusion group Rush Hour rose to regional popularity. His success soon opened the door to performing and touring with blues legend Charlie Musselwhite, and rock pioneers Deep Purple (with “The Voice of Rock,” Glenn Hughes)
Building on the real-world reputation of professionalism he had earned, Rubén was soon traveling the world, touring and recording with some of the most legendary names in music.

Rubén’s talents have been chartered by some iconic acts, leading him to share stages and studios with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Tom Jones, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Natalie Cole, Chick Corea, Tower of Power, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Whatever the project, Rubén brings a wealth of professional experience that has equipped his incendiary keyboard artistry.
